Valeriy Voronin is a Russian conductor, who made a significant contribution
to the development of Russian theatrical art, artistic director and
chief conductor of the Astrakhan State Theater of Opera and Ballet.
His creative activity began in 2002 as a guest conductor of the St.
Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra.
In June 2010, V.Voronin is appointed to Artistic Director and Chief
Conductor of the Astrakhan State Theater of Opera and Ballet. Starting
the reorganization of the creative team and artistic leadership, he
strengthened the opera troupe, symphony orchestra, and also increased
the level of performances of classical heritage. The presentation of
the opera troupe took place at the premiere of the opera “Madame Butterfly”
by G. Puccini (2011), the presentation of the ballet troupe took place
at the premiere of "Swan Lake" by P. Tchaikovsky (2012).
At the initiative of V.Voronin the project “Russian Operas in the
Astrakhan Kremlin” becomes traditional. In 2012, the folk music drama
“Boris Godunov” by M. Mussorgsky was presented. The performance became
the winner of the All-Russian professional award "The Verges of the
Theater of Masses" in the nomination "The best theater in the open air."
In 2014, the epic opera “Prince Igor” by A. Borodin was staged, in 2016
- the liturgical opera by N. Rimsky-Korsakov "The Legend of the Invisible
City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia", which also became the winner
of the All-Russian professional award "The Verges of the Theater of
Masses" in the nomination "The best theater in the open air".
46 performances were staged on the big and small stages of the theater
under the artistic direction of Valeriy Voronin, including: “The Second

G. Verdi (2016); “Tosca” by G. Puccini (2017) ; “Winnie the Pooh" by
S. Dyagilev (2017); "Giselle" by A. Adan (2018); "The Tsar's Bride"
by N. Rimsky - Korsakov (2018), "Il Trovatore" by G. Verdi (2018) and
others which have received high praise and always enjoy the interest
of the audience. The symphony orchestra of the theater under the direction
of Valeriy Voronin implemented a large-scale project “The Entire Beethoven”
the program of which included all symphonic works by L. Beethoven (2013,
2014). The symphonic program “Stars of Olympus Music” was performed,
in which the works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky “Symphony No. 6” and “Variations
on the Rococo for Cello and Orchestra” (2015), a cantata-oratorio concert
“Music as Destiny” were performed. In honor of the anniversary of G.
Sviridov (2015) the symphonic program “At the End of the Great Epoch”,
in which “Symphony No. 2” and “Symphonic Dances” by S. Rachmaninov (2017),
J. Rossini “The Enchanting Rossini” (2017), the symphonic program “The
Majesty of Illusions”, which included the works of R. Strauss “Domestic
Symphony” and S. Rachmaninov “Concerto for piano and orchestra number
At the initiative of V.Voronin in honor of the 70th anniversary of
the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held the project “The Music
of the Great Victory”, in which were the works of D. Shostakovich: “Symphony
No. 7 “Leningradskaya” and “Festive Overture ”. In addition to the symphony
orchestra of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater the open-air concert
was attended by musicians from hero-cities and cities of military glory.
Valeriy Voronin leads an active concert activity, being a guest conductor
of the Astana Opera (Republic of Kazakhstan), the National Symphony
Orchestra of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the St. Petersburg State
Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Krasnoyarsk
State Opera and Ballet Theater named after D. Hvorostovsky, symphonic
orchestra "Della Callabria" (Italian Republic). In 2017, at the invitation
of the administrations of the two largest opera houses of the People’s
Republic of China - “Taijin” (Beijing) and “Harbin” (Harbin) V. Voronin
participated in the international opera festival named after G. Puccini,
where together with the troupe of the Parma Royal Opera took place several
performances of the opera “La Bohem” by G. Puccini. In 2018, he took
part in the Mediterranean Festival (Lamezia Terme, Italian Republic)
performing “Requiem” by V. Mozart and in the festival “Mythos opera”
(Taormina, Italian Republic), conducting the opera “Tosca” by G. Puccini.
Valeriy Voronin takes part in the work of the jury of All-Russian,
international competitions and festivals: “The International Competition
of Vocal Art named after M. Maksakova", the Russian theatrical festival
"Golden Mask "(Moscow, 2016), the Russian contest of performance skills
of pupils of elementary music schools " Stars of the South of Russia,
"Open Russian competition of performance skills of music school students"
and also conducts vocal competitions ("New Year's Royal Tournament",
Valeriy Voronin was nominated for the Russian National Theater Award
"Golden Mask" in the nomination "The Best Work of a Conductor" with
performances: "Madame Butterfly" by G. Puccini (2011), "The Queen of
Spades" by P. Tchaikovsky (2012), "Eugene Onegin" by P. Tchaikovsky
(2014), “The Damnation of Faust” by G. Berlioz (2016). In 2016, the
theater was awarded the title of laureate of the National Opera Award
"Onegin" in the nomination "Theater".
The symphony orchestra, soloists and the theater choir are participants
of the International Festival of Contemporary Music, the International
Festival of Vocal Art named after V. Barsova and M. Maksakova, the Delta-Jazz
festival, which unite the leading masters of the scene from Russia,
Caspian states and the near and distant countries.
Under the artistic direction of V.Voronin the theater actively tours
in 40 cities of Great Britain (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018),
Germany (2014), China (2017, 2018, 2019), the Republic of Azerbaijan
(2013), Krasnoyarsk (2017,2019), Moscow (2018), e.t.c.
Activity of V.Voronin was awarded by the Ministry of Culture of the
Russian Federation for his great contribution to the development of
culture, many years of fruitful work (2016), the medal of the order
“For Services to the Russia” (2016) and the diploma of the Governor
of the Astrakhan Region for the great contribution to the social and
economic development of the Astrakhan Region and successes achieved
in professional activity , The Certificate of honor of the Ministry
of Culture of Russian Federation for many years of diligent work.
Valeriy Voronin’s leadership in the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet
